About DisasterGuy.com

Kerry Cartier began his emergency preparation “hobby” in 1972 when he put together a survival kit for his airplane in Alaska. This led to survival kits for his home and vehicles. (The term “72-hour emergency kit” hadn’t been invented yet.) As a camper, hunter, and outdoorsman, he tested his survival kits. As a Mormon, he put aside food – wheat, honey, powdered milk, and salt – and found variety as important as calories. As a Scout leader for decades, he taught his Scouts emergency preparedness and survival skills and how to make their own camping gear. The DisasterGuy website is a way to teach these skills to a broader audience. See the complete profile for more information.
